Aspen Dental Announces Results of Its ‘An Hour for Haiti’ Employee Donation Program

Company Match Brings Total Donation for American Red Cross to More Than $52,000

Aspen Dental Management, Inc. (ADMI) announced today that the company, its employees and allied Aspen Dental practices would donate more than $52,000 to the American Red Cross as a result of its “An Hour for Haiti” program. “An Hour for Haiti” was a voluntary program launched by ADMI in late January that gave ADMI employees as well as employees of allied Aspen Dental practices the option of donating the equivalent of one hour’s pay to the American Red Cross for Haiti relief and development. Employee donations totaled more than $26,000, an amount that was matched by the company.

“The support that Aspen Dental employees showed for this initiative is a real testament to their generous spirit. Many employees chose to donate even more than one hour’s pay,” said Robert Fontana, president and CEO of ADMI. “In addition to those who participated in ‘An Hour for Haiti,’ we know that many of our team members donated to the relief efforts before our program launched. We thank all of our employees who gave for their concern and compassion for those effected by the earthquake.”

Donations will help the American Red Cross and its partners in the global Red Cross and Red Crescent network, including the Haitian Red Cross, assist those affected by this disaster. Assistance provided by the American Red Cross may include deploying personnel, sending relief supplies and providing financial resources.

Aspen Dental Provides Free Services For Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection High School Students During “Love Your Smile Day”

02.16.2010 – As part of a new partnership with Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection (HW-SC), dentists and hygienists at Aspen Dental provided a day of free dental services to more than 30 HW-SC high school students on Saturday, February 13. During “Love Your Smile Day,” Aspen Dental clinicians, along with dental hygiene students from SUNY Canton, provided students with x-rays, basic cleanings and fluoride treatments. The event was held at Aspen Dental’s Camillus office.

“We were thrilled with the incredible turnout and the positive response from our students and the generous contribution from Aspen Dental,” said Wayne O’Connor, executive director of Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection. “Not only do we work with our Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection students to improve academic success but we strive to help them achieve healthy habits leading to their overall well being.”

In addition to Saturday’s event, Aspen Dental recently provided the Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection with a four-year, $50,000 grant to support their efforts in the Syracuse City School District. The donation was the latest effort in Aspen Dental’s Smile for Good corporate social responsibility initiative, which focuses on bringing smiles to the communities that Aspen Dental serves.

“Poor oral health and dental-related pain can negatively impact a student’s academic performance, distracting them from their studies or causing them to miss class altogether,” added Maureen Howes, RDH, director of hygiene services at Aspen Dental Management, Inc. “Providing access to high-quality, comprehensive oral care is a priority for Aspen Dental, so our team was happy to donate a day of free dental services to the HW-SC program.”

HW-SC is a nationally-recognized youth development program proven to double the graduation rates for at-risk youth. The cornerstone of its model are its school-based Youth Advocates, who serve as long-term mentors and liaisons to students and their families, linking students to individualized support services, employment training and on-the-job mentoring, academic tutoring, and year-round enrichment programs. HW-SC helps students develop good habits, achieve academic success, and become responsible young adults. Last year, HW-SC served 468 Syracuse City School District students in grades 7-12, with 89 percent of these students promoted to the next grade level.

Aspen Dental Employees to Give ‘An Hour for Haiti’

In response to the growing humanitarian crisis following the recent earthquake in Haiti, Aspen Dental Management, Inc. (ADMI) announced today that it was launching “An Hour for Haiti,” a voluntary program that gives Aspen Dental employees the option of donating the equivalent of one hour’s pay to the American Red Cross for Haiti relief and development. Aspen Dental will match employee donations with a dollar-for-dollar contribution of up to $75,000.

“Members of the Aspen Dental team have always been generous in donating their time, talents and dollars to help those in need. Since directly volunteering an hour of their time isn’t possible in this case, ‘An Hour for Haiti’ gives employees an outlet to show their support for earthquake victims,” said Bob Fontana, president and CEO of ADMI. “While the sheer scale of the humanitarian crisis in Haiti is difficult to comprehend, we feel fortunate that we’re in a position to help provide support for relief efforts.”

Donations will help the American Red Cross and its partners in the global Red Cross and Red Crescent network, including the Haitian Red Cross, assist those affected by this disaster. Aspen Dental Launches Redesigned Web Site, Educational Content to Help Patients Find Their Smiles

Aspen Dental is making things easier for patients, launching a redesigned and more intuitive Web site to enhance the online experience for patients looking for information on quality, affordable dental and denture care.

The site, www.aspendent.com, now features extensive educational resources on oral health, including a comprehensive Dental Health Guide on common dental problems, available treatments, and prevention advice; videos on topics like comprehensive care, dentures, and periodontal disease (www.aspendent.com/dental.health.smileguide.html); and frequently asked questions. Patients can also download printable patient forms in advance of their visit, saving them time in the office, and schedule appointments online for added convenience.

“Patients often don’t know what to expect during a dental visit, and hesitate to schedule that first appointment. Our Web site redesign will provide new patients with as much information as possible before visiting an Aspen Dental office, so that they know what to expect from the moment they walk in the door until they sit down in the dentist’s chair for a comprehensive exam,” said Mary Boysman, VP, Brand Marketing and Advertising, Aspen Dental Management, Inc. “We hope that this new online experience will make it easier for current and prospective patients to access dental care, encouraging them to take that first step towards good oral health.”

The new online system gives patients access to their personal information through a “My Account” feature, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Another new feature allows Aspen Dental patients to share their own “Real Smile Stories,” detailing how the patient found their smile through successful dental treatment. Aspen Dental Announces Relocation, Expansion of Worcester Office

Aspen Dental, one of the largest and fastest-growing providers of denture and dental care services in the U.S., will unveil its new 4,000-square-foot Worcester office on Monday, January 25. The office will move a short distance from its current location at 1241 Main Street to the Auburn Center at 434 Southbridge Street, across from Auburn Mall.

The new Worcester office will feature 10 spacious patient treatment rooms, compared to five in the current Aspen Dental office, along with enhanced reception and patient service areas.

The office will also feature state-of-the-art Kodak Dental Systems digital radiography products to better diagnose, serve and treat patients. Digital radiography gives patients the ability to view their x-rays instantly on chair-side monitors and have a clearer understanding of what’s going on in their mouths. The digital system also requires 70 percent less radiation than traditional film x-rays and does not use chemicals, which means a cleaner and more pleasant office environment for patients.

“Aspen Dental’s move into our new, larger offer space speaks to the strength of our dental practice and will allow us to better serve existing and new patients,” said Dr. Sushma Balakrishna, who earned her D.M.D. degree from the Goldman School of Dental Medicine at Boston University. “We’re excited to open our doors and invite the people who live and work in Worcester and the surrounding communities to visit us in our new office and see how Aspen Dental can help them find their smile.”

Aspen Dental provides patients with a full range of denture and dental services, including hygiene, oral surgery, fillings, whitening and crown and bridge work.
