Aspen Dental Timeline of Events
1964—Upstate Dental, a dental laboratory servicing the Syracuse, NY dental community, opens.
1981—Upstate Dental combines in-house laboratory services with centralized management services, revolutionizing the dental industry with the Dental Practice Management concept.
1997—Investor group forms Upstate Dental Management, LLC to acquire the assets of Upstate Family Denture Services, Inc., Upstate Denture Labs, Inc., and East Coast Dental Management, Inc.
1998—Upstate Dental and East Coast Dental merge under one name: Aspen Dental Management, Inc., operating 13 locations in four states.
1999—Aspen expands to 25 locations.
2000—Aspen expands to 33 locations.
2001— Aspen expands to 37 locations, opens its central processing facility in Syracuse, NY and brands its proprietary line of full and partial dentures – Comfidents®
2002—Aspen expands to 41 locations, including its first in New Hampshire.
2003—Aspen expands to 50 locations, including its first in Pennsylvania.
2004— Aspen expands to 62 locations.
2005—Aspen expands to 80 locations, with its first locations in Greater Pittsburgh and Ohio. Digital radiography is first introduced to select Aspen locations.
2006– Aspen expands to 100 locations. Mini-dental implants are rolled out regionally. Indiana and Arizona see their first Aspen Dental.
2007– Aspen opens 35 new practices, expanding to 135 locations including another Arizona location and the first of many in Michigan.
2008– Aspen continues its rapid rise across the country adding 47 locations and serving its millionth patient.
2009 – Aspen opens its first offices in Illinois, Florida, Kentucky and Oregon. The company is one of the 13 founders of the Dental Group Practice Association, a consortium of the nation’s largest and most prominent Dental Service Organizations (DSOs). More than 60 Aspen offices participate in the company’s 2nd annual Earth Day clean-up effort.
